GEOGRAPHIC SKILLS

General information about skills

The best way to understand skills is to practice geographic skills.

You do not have to memorize any facts/information – you just have to know HOW to do skills and interpret resources.

In the exam you will be given a resource booklet of ‘unfamiliar material based around a theme’ (e.g. past themes have been based around water, resource use, landuse, recreational landuse, perspectives of resources etc).

You are expected to use your general geographic understanding to interpret these resources drawing on different geography skills and applying concepts.

At Level 3 you are expected to select the appropriate skills to interpret a resource
