Why CHRISTCHURCH was vulnerable to an Earthquake

There are many reasons why Christchurch was vulnerable to an earthquake - natural and cultural reasons.  Go back over your notes in your book to make sure you clearly understand these reasons (sediment type, water table, population density, building codes).  This video below is one you watched in class and is from 1996. It explains how vulnerable the buildings are to a quake - especially the parapets.

How different groups of people have responded to the effects of the 2011 CHRISTCHURCH Earthquake

Groups of people responded in different ways to the effects of the 2011 Earthquake.  Below are links to 9 different groups of people who all played a vital role after the Earthquake.  Some were involved in the days and weeks after the quake, others are still involved today.  For each group you need to have some specific information that you can use in an exam answer.  The links (click on the picture) take you to just one website. You might find more info via newspaper articles from February 2011 by searching on Google.

Ms Andrews Semester One class  - use the Google Drive document that i have sent you via email and complete it (your name is above 3 of the groups below in the document. Two other people will do the other 6 groups).  You just type in your answers (DO NOT cut and paste from the internet as you will then have too much info and you need it in your own words) and at the end of the activity  you will have done 33% of the work but have 100% of the answers.
